💝THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING US!💝
My name is Karrisa, a Native American artist from the Cherokee tribe, and every piece of art I create carries a story, a piece of heritage. My art is not just about visuals; it’s the voice of those who came before us, those who fought to protect our land and cultural identity.
Each poster I design is a piece of my soul, a connection between the past and present. I hope that when you hang it in your space, you feel the strength, pride, and love for the values we continue to preserve.
Your support is not just about purchasing a piece of art, it’s about joining the journey to protect and honor the heritage of the Cherokee tribe and other Native communities. Thank you for being a part of this story.
THE TEN NATIVE AMERICAN COMMANDMENTS
WALKING THE PATH OF WISDOM
On long nights, when the fire flickers and the wind softly whispers through the trees, my grandfather would often sit beside me, his eyes gazing far beyond the distant mountains. I vividly remember those nights, each story he told steeped in sacredness and deep wisdom, teaching me the ways of life passed down from our ancestors. And in moments when I felt lost, confused by life’s trials, he would gently remind me of the Ten Native American Commandments.
When I was younger, I didn’t fully understand the importance of these lessons. But as time passed and life grew more difficult, with challenges pressing in from all sides, I began to feel the truth of what my grandfather had taught me. In moments where I thought I couldn’t go on, where fear and doubt weighed heavy, it was these teachings that helped me stay grounded.
1. Treat the earth and all that dwell thereon with respect.
I remember walking along dusty roads, feeling the earth beneath my feet. My grandfather always told me that every step I take should honor the earth beneath, for it is the source of all life. Over time, I realized that not only the land, but every living creature around us has a sacred role, and when we respect them, we are also respecting ourselves.
2. Remain close to the Great Spirit.
There were nights when sleep eluded me, my heart heavy with worry and confusion. My grandfather would softly say, “Always remember the Great Spirit. He is always here, in every breath you take.” Those simple words became my anchor, reminding me that no matter how difficult the path may seem, the Great Spirit would always guide me.
3. Show great respect for your fellow beings.
In the world of business and day-to-day life, it’s easy to forget the humanity behind every interaction. But I’ve learned that respect starts with seeing others not just as customers or partners, but as sacred beings. Every person I meet, whether through email or in person, deserves my respect. This respect is woven into every email I send, every product description I write, and every conversation I have. Respect is the foundation of trust, and trust is the foundation of a strong community.
4. Work together for the benefit of allmankind.
When I first began my journey as a Native American entrepreneur, I thought I could do everything alone. But the teachings of my ancestors reminded me that we rise together, or we fall together. My success is not just mine; it is shared with my community, my customers, and those who support my mission. Whether I am working with artisans to create products or collaborating with a team to promote my store, I’ve come to understand that working together is the key to lasting success. We all have a role to play in creating something that benefits everyone.
5. Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is the importance of generosity—not just with material things but with time, energy, and love. There have been times in my life when I struggled, and it was the kindness of others that lifted me when I couldn’t stand on my own. Now, I try to pay it forward. Whether offering discounts to those in need or providing resources to help others start their own businesses, I’ve learned that every act of kindness, no matter how small, ripples out into the world, creating a better, kinder community.
6. Do what you know to be right.
There have been moments when I’ve had to choose between what was easy and what was right. The right path isn’t always the one that brings comfort, but it is the one that brings peace. I’ve learned to listen to my heart, to do what I know is true, even when no one else is watching. Integrity is what defines us.
7. Look after the well-being of mind and body.
For a long time, I neglected this teaching, believing that working harder was the key to success. But the teachings of my elders reminded me that we cannot serve others if we neglect ourselves. I’ve learned to balance the demands of my business with self-care, to give my mind and body the rest they need. Without this balance, nothing I do will have lasting value. We are not machines; we are human beings, and our well-being is sacred.
8. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.
In my work, I’ve come to understand that my success is not just about what I gain, but what I give. Every product I create, every story I tell, is an opportunity to contribute to something larger than myself. Whether supporting the MMIW movement or creating jobs for Indigenous artisans, I dedicate my efforts to the greater good. I’ve realized that my business is not just a way to make money—it’s a way to make a difference.
9. Be truthful and honest at all times.
Honesty is the cornerstone of everything I do. In the world of e-commerce, where competition can be fierce and the temptation to stretch the truth can be great, I’ve learned that authenticity is my most valuable asset. My customers trust me because they know I am honest with them, that I stand behind my products and my words. This honesty extends to everything from the way I market my store to the way I respond to feedback. Truth is what builds lasting relationships.
10. Take full responsibility for your actions.
In every decision I make, I take full responsibility for the outcome. Whether it’s a successful campaign or a mistake that costs me, I own it. This commandment has taught me the importance of accountability, not just to my customers or my team, but to myself. By taking responsibility, I show that I am committed to growth, learning, and continuous improvement.
As I reflect on these Ten Native American Commandments, I realize they are not merely rules to follow, but a way of life guiding us to live with integrity, humility, and connection. These teachings are not just for me; they are for all of us. Every day, we choose how to walk this world, with intention, wisdom, and respect, or toward the shadows that form when we forget what truly matters. They remind us that a meaningful life is built not on individual success, but on collective well-being, urging us to live with purpose, accountability, and honor the sacred in everything we do.
Hanging the Ten Native American Commandments in our homes is not just a tribute to our ancestors, but a constant reminder of how we should live, whole and in harmony. Every time I look at them, I not only remember my ancestors, but I feel these teachings alive in me, a precious legacy we must protect and pass on, not only for ourselves but for future generations.

This remarkable piece of illustrated cartography was designed by Michael Mcardle-Nakoma and published in 1996. According to the author’s text below the title, “This map gives a Native American perspective by placing the tribes when they were in full flower – the ‘Glory Days’.”

Portraits of indigenous leaders and representative profiles are noted throughout the image and within the borders. Other vignettes highlight important architectural sites, various forms of habitation, and objects of cultural relevance like body looms and peace pipes. Blocks of text provide descriptive information and historical background for various regional groups ranging from Mesoamerica to the Arctic Circle. From Rumsey;
